Mission

Trailkeepers of Oregon (TKO) helps make Oregon’s trails open, safe, and accessible. Founded in 2007 from the oregonhikers.org field guide community, we’ve turned into one of the state’s most active trail nonprofits. Now our staff and over 900 dedicated volunteers work across Oregon to help organize trail stewardship and public engagement events that connect people to the places they love.

Bottom Line for Portland

Most Portlanders choose to live here because adventure begins right outside our door. From forested city parks to the wild trails that wind across Oregon, TKO serves the hiking community to ensure these trails remain safe, accessible, and welcoming to all.

Your gift powers the tools, training, coordination, and teamwork that make volunteer-powered trail care possible — helping Portlanders and visitors alike explore the scenic wonders of our region, today and for generations to come.

Quote

"Although I was the only first-time volunteer, I immediately felt like part of the team. The crew was not only skilled and professional, but also incredibly generous with their time and knowledge - sharing insights about trail restoration, safety protocols, and planning strategies. Throughout the day, we were greeted with gratitude by countless hikers, which was a powerful reminder of how vital this work is to our community."

- Spencer McMaster, TKO Volunteer
