Rogue Farm Corps
Mission
Rogue Farm Corps (RFC) trains and equips the next generation of farmers and ranchers through hands-on educational programs and preservation of farmland. We are building a world where land is deeply cared for, power is equitably shared, and farms, ranches, and the people who work them flourish.
Bottom Line for Portland
Now is the time for transformational change in our food system! Climate change is here, our global food system is stressed and unprepared for the changes already underway, and beginning farmers who want to practice sustainable agriculture face systemic barriers to farm ownership.
To foster a just, equitable, and climate-resilient food system, there is an urgent need to train and equip the next generation of farmers, and make careers in agriculture more accessible to BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and low-income individuals.
Rogue Farm Corps provides in-depth, hands-on training in sustainable agriculture, business development support, and personalized, one-on-one technical assistance for farmers and ranchers across Oregon. We also address the many systemic barriers that beginning farmers and ranchers face through education, creative land access strategies, advocacy and coalition work.
Quote
“Starting in the RFC program gave me the ability to begin a life’s journey of farming. Every day I am stimulated, challenged, motivated, and excited. There is no other job that could compare for me. I will continue to learn and grow as a steward and that feels damn good." 2022 RFC Beginning Farmer
“I appreciated meeting so many amazing farmers and humans passionate about food, farming, and the environment and so willing to be vulnerable and open in connecting with people from all walks of life.” 2022 RFC Beginning Farmer
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
RFC approaches all of our work through an equity lens, and we strive to make our programming inclusive of and welcoming to communities who have been excluded from farm ownership in Oregon, including Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC), women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, low-income individuals, and immigrants. We will continue to use our organizational power to be an agent of positive change because we know that our mission and vision cannot be realized until we dismantle white supremacy, respect the rights of workers, and reckon with the legacy of systemic racism and land dispossession in agriculture.
