Friends of Family Farmers
Mission
Friends of Family Farmers advances policies and programs that protect, promote and sustain resilient and economically viable community agricultural systems in Oregon.
Bottom Line for Portland
Not everyone is a farmer, but everyone eats! Friends of Family Farmers work helps farmers all over our state, including many in the northern Willamette Valley who sell products in Portland, get the technical assistance, community support, and advocacy necessary to thrive. Thanks to our efforts to build a healthier, more localized food system in Oregon, farmers can bring more great food to farmers markets, local grocery stores, and CSA boxes around the Portland area and give people access to food choices that embody their values of equity and environmental stewardship.
Quote
FoFF provides me with a connection point with other farms in the network. Farming can be isolating and hard, we tend to be so focused on our own work that it's hard to pick our eyes up and look across the field towards our fellow farmers and provide or receive support. FoFF provides a conduit and connection point that allows me to provide feedback to others in the network as well as stay informed about important issues and make my voice heard.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Friends of Family Farmers has been undergoing an organizational DEI overhaul since the end of 2019. Through consistent and committed work by our board and staff under the guidance of DEI consultants Capacity Building Partnerships, we have added an equity lens to all our programming including expanding technical assistance for BIPOC land seekers in the Farm Link program, partnering with culturally specific farming organizations across the state to develop policies, and incorporating farmer advisory committees to ensure accountability in our programs. We also reviewed our internal policies, our compensation structure including benefits, and our employee handbook to make FoFF an equitable employer and a great place to work..
