Mission

Tucker Maxon School teaches deaf and hearing children to listen, talk, learn, and achieve excellence together. Our goal at Tucker Maxon is to help every child reach their full potential in school and in life together.

Bottom Line for Portland

You can help deaf children in Oregon reach their full potential in life. We are celebrating our 75th anniversary helping infants, toddlers, preschoolers and elementary school children learn to listen, talk, and learn! Our children with hearing loss use digital hearing aids and cochlear implants, and receive daily support from our audiologist, speech therapist, and teachers of the deaf all under one roof. On average, deaf children nationally graduate high school with a third-grade reading aptitude, and just 8% graduate college. However, 87% of our students go on to college, 77% graduate earn a degree, and 23% go on to earn an advanced degree. Even with their disabilities, our alumni outperform the national average. This work is expensive! We get no government support and rely on fundraising to pay for nearly half of our costs. We need your help now more than ever. On behalf of hundreds of children, thank you for your generous support.
