Mission

Our mission is to produce, present and support programs that reflect and enhance the cultural life of the community and to preserve and celebrate the building’s historic architecture.

Bottom Line for Portland

We’re devoted to the music!
We honor the amazing acoustical qualities of our building by producing music and performances that are second to none. At TOC you can truly immerse yourself in the music. Our programming reflects and enhances the cultural life of our community, and we strive to make our performances accessible to all.

We celebrate over 50 years of free Lunchtime Concerts. We also produce TOC Presents performances, and a host of free community outreach programs, such as We Can Listen social justice conversations, and Sing Out Loud! educational workshops. We host and support the programming of mission-aligned nonprofits Fear No Music, PDX Jazz, Chamber Music Northwest and others.

Together we can continue to broaden Portland’s cultural landscape and foster vibrancy in our downtown.

Quote

After having attended many concerts at TOC, I can say that the venue is a wonderfully complex assemblage of characteristics. It is both casual and elegant, reverent and welcoming, and the atmosphere sets the stage for each concert being a "special" occasion. The acoustics are stellar, every seat promises a good view, and the experience there is always momentous, yet intimate. TOC is one of my favorite Portland venues.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Through our programming and operations, TOC is an accessible, welcoming, inclusive, and safe space free from discrimination and bias towards staff, patrons and volunteers. In keeping with this commitment, we maintain a strict policy prohibiting harassment in any form (verbal, physical, visual, etc.). We intentionally curate our programming to create opportunities for historically underrepresented voices to be celebrated, and our leadership teams include people of a variety of races, gender identities, sexual orientations, abilities, classes and national origins.
