Reading Results
Mission
Reading Results partners with schools to support students from systemically excluded communities in becoming successful readers. We believe that literacy is a basic human right, and we work to increase access and break down barriers through supporting students with an effective, individualized, culturally-responsive reading intervention program.
Reading by third grade is crucial to a child’s educational development. Falling behind creates challenges that negatively impact a child’s education and self-esteem for years to come. Reading Results is committed to helping struggling learners get on the path toward academic success and a brighter future.
Bottom Line for Portland
This school year, Reading Results will provide more than 40,000 individualized tutoring sessions to 680 local students. Each student actively engages in personalized instruction and learns the skills and strategies needed to be a successful reader. On average, students in our program make 16 months of reading gains over eight months. Reading Results meets students where they are – making a difference in the lives of students every day!
Quote
“Having the opportunity for students to get that extra support has been important for students, but also for teachers. Our students come out of this program with more confidence as readers."
- Tina Turner, Principal, Rosa Parks Elementary
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Reading Results strives to be an Anti-Biased/Anti-Racist organization that centers diversity, equity, and inclusion in our program, decision-making and allocation of resources. We are intentional about this work and focus on reaching students who have been, and continue to be, systematically excluded. In seeking to advance social justice and foster equitable access, we create a stronger and fuller program for every student we serve.
