OCT Qualified
BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

p:ear builds positive relationships with homeless youth through education, art, recreation and job training to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful and healthier lives.

Bottom Line for Portland

p:ear serves 600 homeless youth per year as they navigate the personal and difficult journey of navigating homelessness. Without a loving and supportive community, homeless youth face great adversity: from mental and physical challenges to systemic inequality, familial violence, sexual abuse and lifelong struggles with poverty, drug addiction and incarceration.

Quote

“p:ear is a parent for many lost children. Thank you for helping me figure out who I am, and what I’m capable of. I love you p:ear.” - M, p:ear youth

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At p:ear, we respect and celebrate the diversity, creativity and strength of our community. We are committed to using our time and resources - including our social capital, dynamic relationships and privilege - to combat systems of oppression and create more opportunity so we can all thrive. We ask p:ear youth and the p:ear community to hold us accountable in these goals and we regularly evaluate our equity efforts.
