Our mission is to liberate mind and heart through teen-centered, transformative mindfulness education. 

Bottom Line for Portland

So many teens are in dire need of social-emotional support but are unable to find it; your support provides access. Our Mindful Studies course provides teens refuge, community & life-long tools for wellbeing - all offered during the school day as a for-credit class. More than 500 teens at 8 Portland public high schools will receive effective, practical and transformative mindfulness tools this year, with 94% of teens reporting that what they learned supported them in relation to anxiety or depression. In just a few months, we will be launching a major capacity expansion initiative, bringing Mindful Studies to more teens in Oregon beyond our current partnerships.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We believe wellbeing is a human right, which is why we center equity and racial justice in all aspects of our work: our systems, policies, curricula, and interactions. Our approach to mindfulness education is designed to be implicitly and explicitly anti-oppressive in approach and content. While our classes are open to all students, Johns Hopkins University research has shown that our program equitably serves BIPOC youth, teens from low-income families, LGBTQ+ youth, and those with high rates of childhood trauma.
