Oregon Tradeswomen

BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

Oregon Tradeswomen helps transform lives by building community and economic independence through empowerment, training, career education, advocacy, & leadership development in the skilled trades.

Bottom Line for Portland

Oregon is experiencing a reported labor shortage of skilled construction craft workers and Oregon Tradeswomen offers a direct path for women to learn more about and access to these careers.

Forty percent (40%) of the individuals we directly served in our pre-apprenticeship program were unemployed, and the average annual income before going through our program in 2022 was just $18,905. After successfully completing our free program, their average wage increased to $22.33/hour or $46,445 per year, most often with good benefits and the knowledge that their wages will continue to increase.

Quote

“I am not worried about living paycheck to paycheck because I have a solid career. My confidence has boosted exponentially. Thank you, Oregon Tradeswomen!”

Our collaborative approach to equity and inclusion relies on our strong, strategic, and authentic partnerships.

Our staff and board are committed to utilizing a racial and gender justice lens to design, implement, and evaluate our programming and policy work, as well as our internal policies and procedures.
