We’re on a mission to end gun violence and gun suicides and build communities where all Oregonians feel safe and have opportunities to thrive.

Bottom Line for Portland

We’re working to keep unsecured, illegal guns out of our communities through policy, education, and programs. From preventing suicides to reducing crimes to preventing school shootings, we know permit requirements, safety training and education, and secure storage work. Our youth leaders are focused on district-level changes that can create safer school environments, based on research and supported by students, who face high levels of anxiety and worry on a daily basis.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We prioritize those most impacted by gun violence for our programmatic and policy work, including Black and Brown communities in the metro region, rural populations, veterans and youth — communities who are disproportionately harmed by gun violence. We work in partnership with members of these communities through advisory tables and coalitions to ensure their voices and lived experiences are centered in the work. We compensate individuals for their time and expertise, offering stipends to any of our Advisory and/or Equity Gun Violence Prevention Table members.
