Northwest Pilot Project

Mission

Northwest Pilot Project (NWPP) helps very low-income older adults, including those experiencing homelessness, to find stable housing.

Bottom Line for Portland

As the number of homeless seniors continues to increase rapidly, NWPP is responding by expanding services to connect low-income and very low-income seniors (55 and over) to rental housing that is safe, permanent, and affordable to them. As rents rise, but the fixed benefits for most seniors stay at the same levels, NWPP is here to provide rent assistance, housing navigation, case management and basic housing stability services to prevent eviction and move seniors from homelessness into housing. Join us to KEEP SENIORS HOUSED!

Quote

"I can see it in their eyes, when they've been out there for so long that they think there's no way out. They just give up. I hope somebody sees this and says ‘if he can do it, I can do it.’'“ Dale, formerly houseless Portlander

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Northwest Pilot Project believes that prioritizing the wellbeing of older adults through housing stability is necessary to build a socially just, equitable, and thriving community for all. But we also recognize the discrimination, injustice, and disparities in access to housing resources and challenges faced by older adults, particularly older adults of color and from marginalized communities.  NWPP is committed to increasing the access, services, and success rates in our programs for older adults who are Black, Indigenous, and from other communities of color, as well as for older immigrants and refugees.
