Bottom Line for Portland
Believing in abundance, Wingi, Swahili for abundance, launched in 2023. It liberates surplus food, supports producers, and feeds our community. This year, it advances workforce development, reduces waste, and fosters a sense of belonging through food. Localized sourcing empowers diverse businesses and connects cultural foods with their communities. Your support fuels our food sovereignty work, impacting both our organization and the wider community.
Quote
A Quote from a farm partner: “Making sure quality food gets into the hands of families and people that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford like at farmers markets or the selection of things at grocery stores. As prices have been going up and so it's hard to sustain ourselves but finding out about this grant really it was a huge relief! it was a huge relief to be able to connect the food with people that otherwise wouldn't be able to afford it or be able to afford the diversity of products that we can make but then also being able to sustain ourselves as a family in a small operation and so relief is the first thing that comes to mind because now there's a pathway or at least more pathways being made that we can get directly to families and people that need it.“ -Sotoi Farms
