Clackamas Women's Services

Mission

Clackamas Women’s Services breaks the isolation of domestic and sexual violence. We provide housing programs and many other resources for children and adults escaping domestic and sexual violence, child and elder abuse, stalking, dating violence, and trafficking.

Bottom Line for Portland

We provide supportive housing services that include housing referrals and resources to survivors, keeping them safe as they achieve their goals for safety and autonomy. We believe safety is the foundation upon which wellness is built, and that it is a right every human deserves. Our work matters because we help empower survivors to live and thrive in safety once again. Generous community support empowers us to increase access to safe shelter, housing, and other resources which are needed more than ever. In 2022, over 260 adults and children connected with a supportive community through our emergency shelter and transitional housing services.

Quote

“After my experience with CWS, I feel more empowered and like I can trust myself to face challenges with confidence. I learned that it is ok to reach out for help, and that there are people that can help you. I am hopeful for the future.” -CWS Participant

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

We examine everything we do through lenses of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. With a staff that has grown to nearly 70, we have maintained a policy of prioritizing diversity in filling open positions. As a result, more than 40% of CWS staff identify as BIPOC and/or bicultural/bilingual; 30% identify as LGBTQIA+; 22% identify as having a disability; 15% are immigrants; and 73% identify as a survivor of interpersonal violence.
