BIPOC-Led Organization

Mission

A home for Latino cultures, Centro serves the needs of our diverse community by promoting personal growth and empowerment.

Bottom Line for Portland

In 1972, when a group of migrant farmworker families wished to make Washington County their permanent home. They founded Centro Cultural as a place where you can celebrate their heritage, culture, and traditions.

Today, fifty-one years later, Oregon looks a little bit different, and Centro also looks a little bit different because, throughout our history, we have existed to respond to the needs of the community. Today, Centro is an engine for community change and impact that helps empower the lives of the Latino community through culturally specific services such as housing, food security, access to STEAM opportunities, career and entrepreneurship growth, community wellness, and much more.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Centro is deeply committed to social and racial justice, and works to live up to those values in all aspects of operation and program implementation. Programs are in constant change and evaluation to accommodate the needs of people with disabilities, ethnic minorities, LGTBQ+ groups, among other minority populations. Over 75% of Centro’s staff identify as a person of color.

Partner(s)

Centro Cultural is excited to partner with renowned winery Argyle in Dundee, Oregon. A pioneer in the Oregon wine industry, Argyle was founded in 1987 by Rollin Soles to capture the unique terroir of the Willamette Valley in a sparkling wine. Now, Argyle produces one of the most diverse portfolios in Oregon – Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Sparkling wines. No other American winery but Argyle has earned recognition in Wine Spectator’s “Top 100 Wines of the World” in three wine categories: red, white, and sparkling.

Concurrently, we thank the employees at Nike Inc. for their commitment to Centro's mission and Give!Guide 2023 campaign efforts.
