CASA for Children of Multnomah, Washington, Columbia, and Tillamook Counties

CASA for Children’s unwavering mission is advocating for the best interests of children who are in custody of the state and under protection of the court. Oregon’s largest and longest serving CASA organization, we support Multnomah, Washington, Columbia, and Tillamook Counties and more than one quarter of Oregon's foster youth. We recruit, train, and support nearly 500 CASA volunteers (Court Appointed Special Advocates) who support almost 1,000 children each year.

Bottom Line for Portland

Every year, CASA for Children supports nearly 500 CASAs in their advocacy for over 900 youth in Multnomah, Washington, Columbia, and Tillamook Counties. CASA volunteers help meet the children’s most pressing needs - safety, shelter, healthcare, counseling, and educational support - allowing them to move more effectively through the foster care system to a permanent home. Research shows that children who have the benefit of a long-term relationship of trust with a CASA are likely to have better mental health, more education, more likely to have a job, and have lower rates of poverty & homelessness.

When I was younger, I had a CASA of my own. She was there for me during some of the most difficult times in my childhood, giving me a voice and providing me support like no one else on my case could. As an adult, I became a CASA so I could provide that same support to other kids in similar situations because it really can make all the difference.”

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

CASA for Children recognizes the levels of oppression that disproportionately impact children in the foster care system. We commit to the ongoing learning and adaptation needed to better serve the children in our community and better equip our citizen advocates. Our organization prioritizes continuing education for staff and volunteers, community partnerships to expand connection and competencies, and cultural responsiveness to guide our practices and work.

With a company-wide focus on equity and creating an impact within our communities, Moss Adams is partnering with CASA for Children to share the 2023 Give!Guide campaign with its 300+ Portland employees.

As two organizations working to support and advocate for children in foster care, Kinship House and CASA for Children are partnering to share our work and passion with more people in our community.
