Brown Girl Rise
Mission
We cultivate solidarity between girls & non-binary femmes of the Global Majority. We are an intergenerational BIPOC sisterhood reclaiming connection to body, community, land, health, and creativity to cultivate a just future where we rise together.
Bottom Line for Portland
Donating to BGR supports the next generation of leaders and change-makers in the Portland metro area. Our programs build joy and confidence in our youth while simultaneously uplifting their incredible expertise so they can become leaders in their community. We are seen as experts in anti-racist and feminist work in Portland, partnering with PPS to support their equity work and offer other community trainings on topics from youth advocacy to white allyship.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
BGR was created in our nation’s whitest city as a space for girls and femmes to build the knowledge and resources to rise together toward self-determination and equity. Our youth advisory board, horizontal leadership structure, and Black- and parent-led organization ensures that decision making happens with all voices being heard.
