4D Recovery
Mission
Our mission to provide a variety of recovery support services to young people between the ages of 18 and 35 is collaborative and delivered by people matching the demographic that we serve. While our peer services are limited to those 14-35, recovery meetings, events, and celebrations are open to all. Every person who works for 4D, as well as our governing body, is a young person in recovery. We know that one person who has been through it, and continues to battle the disease of addiction, is best equipped to support another. This peer-to-peer model is a proven scientific and evidence-based practice with an incredible success rate. We use a client centric and tailored approach based on the individual and the goals they set with their mentor.
Bottom Line for Portland
We see the impacts of untreated addiction all around us, from healthcare to criminal justice, the socioeconomic determinants of this disease are evident. The long-lasting effects on the individual, their families, and the wider community are far greater than anything we can measure. Oregon ranks second in the nation for addiction and has fallen to last place for access to care and treatment, with the rates of teenage death by overdose rising faster than anywhere else in the nation. 4D Recovery is one of the only nonprofits in Portland with recovery services and community centers specifically targeted to meet the needs of adolescents and young adults seeking to overcome addiction. We are working tirelessly to combat the addiction crisis in our local community.
Quote
"4D Recovery is the safest place I know. It is my oasis. My 4D mentor saved my life. When I’m feeling depressed, I call my mentor. When I’m excited about something, I call my mentor. If I’m on the brink of turning back to drugs, I call my mentor. And every time I call my mentor, I’m given all the love and support I need to not only stay sober, but to believe my life has a higher purpose. My 4D mentor saves me every time I pick up the phone." - Michael, 4D Client
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
4D Recovery has grown to be a pillar in the Portland recovery community. We know that peer services need to be relevant, culturally specific, and meet clients where they are at. Programs and services at 4D are delivered by staff that are in recovery and matching the demographics of the communities we serve. Our focus is on Oregonians aged 14-35, one of the most underserved populations with the fastest growing rate of overdose in the nation. We serve hundreds of adolescents and young adults every day, 365 days a year in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties, with 100% free and on-demand services to anyone who walks through our doors. A recent study of our efficacy shows that 90% of our clientele achieved recovery milestones and other recovery goals in the last year. 93% of clients identify 4D services as the reason they are alive today. We provide one on one peer-based mentorship services, drop-in community centers, supportive housing and housing assistance, as well as leadership development and training.
